The Story
Before their big Jewish wedding ceremony, Talia and Todd gathered with a more intimate group including their parents to sign the ketubah, the Jewish wedding license. Everyone was very emotional, including Todd’s mother when she and Todd’s father gave Todd a hug and blessing. Todd’s father was ill and died shortly after the wedding day. At the time, I kept telling myself that I had a responsibility to get emotionally and physically close because I was documenting fleeting moments for this family. I didn’t shy away and was able to capture the beauty and rawness of the day.
