For Zack and Cassandra’s engagement, they wanted to include Zack’s uniform and the American flag. The Army has been part of Zack’s entire life: his dad served 22 years in the Army Corps of Engineers and Zack attended West Point. He is now serving in the Infantry as a Second Lieutenant at Fort Carson, Colorado.

For me this is much more than an engagement photo. The way she is touching him is a metaphor for that moment all soldiers and their loved ones experience when they say goodbye. It reminds me of their sacrifice and invokes a sense of patriotism and gratitude for the women and men who protect our freedom.
