The Story
I love this image because it is a great reminder to me to never just focus on the main event. The obvious photo was the bride, groom and hundreds of their guests sending balloons into the air and, although it was a momentous occasion and we made sure it was completely documented, there was also a much smaller story happening at the same time.
A little girl had broken off from the pack and had escaped in her mum’s high heels! I waited until the girl had walked a little way onto the gravel to help to frame the image and then captured a series of shots, this was my favourite as I felt it had the most timeless feel - I particularly enjoyed the mystery of not showing the child’s face along with the unusual angle of the balloon helping to link the components of the image.
